ARTXPRT is a full service art firm providing appraisals-brokerage-consulting and other ancillary services relating to the care and management of fine art, antiques, jewelry, objets d'art and other valuable personal property. We regularly advise collectors and fiduciaries alike in the management and care of such assets for a number of legal and accounting purposes, including trusts and estates, dissolutions and insurance issues. We maintain an extensive list of specialists in all fields of tangible assets. Clients include major Bank Trust offices, law firms, CPA's, major collectors and large corporations.

Art Advisory

We regularly advise clients as “in-house” curators and monitor market trends. We seek out offerings within your fields of interest and collecting preferences, as well as to represent you in acquisitions and deaccessions. We interface with dealers, auctioneers, shippers, and other professionals to ensure that all aspects of your art collecting endeavors are attended to.

Market Analysis

Like any other asset class, it may be useful to plot the historic performance of specific artists or schools of art. We research and graph the marketplace for those areas of interest to illustrate growth or decline for specific items. As is with the equities field, past performance is no guarantee of future performance, but 20/20 hindsight may aid the collector in deciding when to buy and sell

Brokerage

For buyers and sellers of art, antiques and any other category of personal property, we regularly act as agent. There are many methods of sale, so we analyze the pros and cons of each and help you make an informed decision as to the best options. If auction is the preferred route, we compare and contrast the terms and conditions and negotiate the best contract we can on your behalf, including reserves and ancillary fees. Our longstanding relationships with all the major auction houses enable us to secure the most favorable outcome.  If consignment to galleries is appropriate, we make sure your property will be properly exposed to the marketplace and marketed to the right clientele.
 
If a premise sale is warranted, we invite the right prospective buyers to view and purchase some or all of your offerings. If the internet is the correct path, we will help you get your property listed on the most reliable sites. Every situation is unique, and so we are not steadfast in any one method. Rather, we may encourage you to employ one or several. Fees and commissions are negotiable depending upon what plan suits your need and what services are actually provided.

Experience

Robert Levy, owner and principal, was apprenticed in Europe and held positions in several major international auction houses preparing catalogues, negotiating the disposition of estates and private collections and overseeing consignments and sales. In private practice since 1978, Mr. Levy has appraised many high profile estates and collections.
